Marmaduke!

AKA Duke, Big Man

5 years | St.Bernard | Brown, Black and White Coat | House trained | Dog Friendly | Med Energy | Good with respectful Children | Great Leash Manners | Not Thoroughly Cat Tested

Do you like drool? We hope so! Marmaduke is a big goofball at 127lbs and loves to love. Marmaduke came to us from a neglectful situation though you'd almost never know it with his shiny new coat thanks to a lot of baths and brushing frim foster mom! He still requires some weight gain but has already made excellent progress eating 2-3 cups of puppy food 4x per day. Marmaduke has loved everyone he has met since arriving into care but due to his size and age would prefer dog friends that are calm and respectful. He has met several children from 1-8 and has done very well though we do recommend older respectful children due to his size and age. Marmaduke may look like a small horse but you would never know it walking on leash! He walks like a dream on a flat buckle- unless of coarse he absolutely must pee on something but redirects with ease.

Marmaduke loves his humans and would do absolutely anything to be by their side at all times, so to ensure a healthy transition we would love to see him continue his crate training to ensure he does not develop separation anxiety. He goes into his crate for meals and spends about 30 minutes of downtime afterwards to lessen the risk of bloat seeing as his size and breed makes him a little more prone to the condition. When he's not lazing around the house he loves to explore in the yard or neighborhood and has been doing very well with increased activity (currently around 40 min 2x per day!) While we continue to strengthen his backend. Marmaduke also knows, sit, stay, down and paw and loves to practice these for additional treats! While sometimes he may bark or "awooo" when excited or in need of another water tank ;) he settles quite quickly so we believe he would be well suited to just about any kind of home! If you have love and a stomach for cleaning drool puddles then this may just be the dog for you!
